Volunteer Data Analyst

Are you a data analyst with strong data wrangling and visualization skills, interested in helping a fast-paced, innovative journalism outlet produce data driven news? The nonprofit news organization WhoWhatWhy is looking for a data analyst to become part of an investigative reporting team working on stories of national and international importance

Expectations

You will work work with our reporter remotely for ten days on this project, as many hours a day as needed, from your location, beginning immediately.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with Python and SQL
  • Data-driven news experience a plus
  • A creative mindset towards working with our reporter to analyze and shape data for this story

​Responsibilities

  • Working with the reporter on this story to construct queries to manipulate/consolidate voter data
  • Build a data model and write code to conduct data exploration analysis
  • Create visualizations of the selected results of analysis
