Account Manager

Do you excel at managing, organizing and tracking donor accounts for nonprofits ? The nonprofit news organization WhoWhatWhy is looking to build a team of account managers who will build, track and update donor accounts in our Salesforce database as we look to increase fundraising and growth. You will be responsible for working within a team to produce reports and analyses of donors and prospects as well.

A nonprofit that accepts no advertising, WhoWhatWhy is staffed largely with skilled volunteers dedicated to elevating public awareness and fostering a more vigorous democracy.  


You will work remotely and on your own schedule, though we require a minimum commitment of 5-8 hours a week.  Because our staff is spread throughout the world, we communicate mostly through email. All staff are required to respond to emails on a daily basis.

  • Proven experience managing accounts in a development capacity
  • Nonprofit experience a plus 
  • The ability to efficiently organize and track donor accounts 
  • The ability to work independently, in a virtual team environment
  • A creative mindset towards analyses of how we can make our development operations more successful


  • Input data into Salesforce as we increase fundraising attempts 
  • Manage and track prospects and donors, create reports and presentations to help us figure out where to go next 
  • Use Salesforce programs to rank prospects and deliver results to team members
  • Work with marketing and development team members to satisfy many aspects of donor outreach
