Executive Assistant to Editor-in-Chief

Russ Baker, accomplished investigative reporter, best-selling author, and editor-in-chief of the nonprofit news organization WhoWhatWhy, is seeking a "right hand person" to help handle all kinds of interesting projects and learn about journalism operations from the inside.

This position, open to people of all ages, is part-time and initially unpaid, but down the road, as we grow, we can offer possibilities of compensation. You will work primarily out of our Manhattan office, and sometimes from your own location and on your own schedule. A minimum commitment of 10 hours a week is required. This is an extraordinary opportunity to get your foot into creative contemporary journalism with its many facets, including writing, editing, video, podcasts, marketing, public relations, branding, fundraising, and more.

Requirements

  • Interest in and knowledge of current affairs and news
  • Excellent written communication and oral presentation abilities

Responsibilities

  • Track and manage projects and tasks
  • Conduct research
  • Specialize in your area of interest, be it editorial, development, administration, etc, while handling everything that needs to be done 
  • Partner with current Executive Assistant to divide and conquer projects and tasks
