Volunteer Researcher at Media Nonprofit

Are you an inquisitive, outside-the-box thinker? Certain people are specially wired, by experience and instinct, to unearth mysteries. Maybe that’s you. Can you scour archives for obscure historical facts and hidden hints? Can you look at biographies and detect activity patterns?  The nonprofit news organization WhoWhatWhy is looking for volunteer researchers to do just this.

The Position

We are looking for skilled volunteer researchers help reporters track down sources, develop stories and fact-check claims, as well as help our fundraising people to identify prospective donors.

A nonprofit that accepts no advertising, WhoWhatWhy is staffed largely with skilled volunteers dedicated to elevating public awareness and fostering a more vigorous democracy.  

Expectations

You will work remotely and on your own schedule, though we require a minimum commitment of 5-8 hours a week.  Because our staff is spread throughout the world, we communicate mostly through email.  All staff are required to respond to emails on a daily basis.
