Use your creative skills to help make meaningful content that moves people.
We’re looking for a Content Creation Team Member to help produce original short-form content for social media — including reels, clips, and remixable videos that help us engage and expand our audience. If you love crafting creative, culturally aware content that resonates, this role is for you.
Who We Are
WhoWhatWhy is a nonprofit investigative news organization producing deep-dive journalism on the most pressing issues of our time. We’re powered by skilled volunteers and a small core staff — from students to seasoned pros — who believe in ethical, independent journalism free from corporate or political influence.
About the Role
As a member of our Content Creation Team, you’ll:
- Create short-form video content tailored for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and X
- Repurpose or remix existing footage with new edits, overlays, and styles
- Collaborate with the Strategy Team to align content with our growth goals
- Track trends, sounds, and storytelling formats that can be adapted to our voice
- Help test and refine ideas through engagement feedback
What We’re Looking For
- Experience creating short videos or social media content
- Familiarity with basic editing tools (CapCut, Canva, Adobe Express, etc.)
- Strong visual instincts and cultural awareness
- Collaborative, curious, and willing to experiment with new ideas
- Bonus: You’ve grown your own channel or supported other content brands
Commitment
We ask for a commitment of 5–7 hours per week and a minimum of 6 months. Flexible workload with opportunities for cross-team collaboration.
How to Apply
Please send:
- Your resume or relevant experience
- A cover letter about why this opportunity excites you
- Optional: A link to your social content, reels, or creative work
To confirm you’ve read this description, include the phrase “Committed to the Mission” and the result of 12 ÷ 3 somewhere in your cover letter message.
If needed, email your cover letter to [email protected]. Please check your spam folder for responses.
