The nonprofit news organization WhoWhatWhy is looking for a talented, highly motivated, Project Manager to join our people-driven, idealistic outfit. The role will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of programs that significantly support WhoWhatWhy’s strategic directions and future goals.
Who We Are:
WhoWhatWhy is the operating arm of Real News Project, Inc., a global nonprofit news organization committed to rigorous journalism, unbound by corporate interest or political agenda. Our mission is to deliver fact-based news with contextual analysis to help the public understand a complex, fast-changing world.
We support traditional journalism, but this grave moment in time calls for a stronger response. We dig deeper, covering explosive stories that others dare not touch. We believe that quality information changes minds — and that when you change minds, you change everything.
We do not accept ads and are not controlled by wealthy benefactors. We operate a lean machine: Based on public contributions, we pay a core management team and professional writers — and support them with a large infrastructure of dedicated volunteers. WhoWhatWhy is nonhierarchical and relies on individual ingenuity and initiative. We pair newcomers with veterans to develop the skills and leadership traits required for the challenging and changing news landscape.
You will:
- Manage the scope of the program/project throughout its duration
- Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
- Execute detailed program/project tasks correlating to the work breakdown structure of the assigned project
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to determine the effectiveness of programs/projects and recommend improvements
- Organize programs and activities in accordance with the mission, goals, and strategic direction of the organization.
- Meet with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services.
To be successful in this role, you will need considerable experience and proven success in project management and execution. An ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for true journalism and a firm believer in the power of fact-based reporting.
Project Manager Requirements.
- Proven background in program management.
- Ability to schedule and manage tasks effectively.
- Ownership mindset and ability to move simultaneously between diverse tasks
- Excellent problem-solving, ability to multitask, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Teamwork and motivational skills.
- Familiarity with and openness to using modern organizational software applications such as Slack, GDrive, Salesforce, etc.
